Wilderstein’s Carriage House Has Been Saved!
We are pleased to announce completion of the first phase in the restoration and adaptive reuse of the estate’s magnificent 1888 Carriage House. Thanks to the generous support of the community in raising over $500,000 for this important effort, the building is no longer endangered.
The Wilderstein Carriage House is one of the most elaborate structures of its kind from this era. It would be virtually impossible to recreate a building of comparable quality, scale and proximity to the river. Now that the Carriage House is structurally sound again, the stage has been set for restoring the exterior back to its original grandeur and from there transforming the interior into much needed space for exhibitions, educational programs, community events and more. In so many ways, this building represents Wilderstein’s future.
