Volunteer Orientation Day

Wilderstein is seeking new volunteers to welcome visitors, conduct tours, and work on the landscape. Learn more about getting involved by joining us for this informational session for new and returning volunteers. Refreshments will be served. Please call 845.876.4818 for additional details.

Daffodil Tea

April 1 (Saturday) 1:00 PM

Afternoon affair with fine tea, finger sandwiches, homemade cakes and cookies. Admission $30 per adult and $20 per child. Mansion tour included. Reservations are necessary, as seating is limited. Call 845.876.4818 for more information.

The Roosevelt Circle: A Closer Perspective

Wednesdays in April (4/5, 4/12, 4/19, 4/26) 2:00 PM

Series of four seminars on The Roosevelts led local historians Linda Bouchey and Albert Vinck. Titles include:  The Roosevelts Entertain the King & Queen; Frances Perkins – The New Deal’s First Lady (Part I); Frances Perkins – The New Deal’s First Lady (Part II); Missy LeHand – FDR’s Other Closest Companion.  Registration fee is $40 for the complete series ($25 for Wilderstein members and volunteers).  Tea and light refreshments will be served.  To enroll and for more information, please call 845.876.4818.

2017 Tour Season

May 4 – October 29 (Thursday – Sunday) noon – 4:00 PM

House museum open for docent led tours. Experience the mansion’s magical architecture and lavish 1888 interiors, learn about the history of the estate and its inhabitants, and explore the breathtaking landscape.  Admission $11 adults, $10 students/seniors, children under 12 free.  Last tour begins at 3:30 PM.

Exhibit – “An American Family In World War I”

May 4 – October 29 (Thursday – Sunday) noon – 4:00 PM

Special exhibition commemorating centennial of the U.S. entry into World War I. Explores the lives of the Suckley children (Henry, Robin, Arthur, Daisy, Katharine, and Betty) during the war.  Included as part of the tour. PREVIEW PARTY on Saturday, April 29 from 4 to 6pm. Lecture – “Alsace Revisited: American Ambulance Field Service Section Three 1915 to 1916″

May 13 (Saturday) 2:00 PM

In connection with our 2017 World War I special exhibition, Thomas Fife will discuss the beginnings of the American Ambulance Field Service in France and chronicle eldest Suckley son Henry’s participation with Section Three during its first two years in Alsace and at the Battle of  Verdun. Tickets are $15 ($10 for Wilderstein members and volunteers). Outdoor Sculpture Biennial

June 3 – October 31 (Daily) 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Outdoor sculpture show featuring contemporary pieces by Hudson Valley artists paired with Wilderstein’s romantic landscape. OPENING PARTY on Saturday, June 3 from 5 to 7pm. Tickets to this event are $25. Summer Celebration

RCMS Outdoor Concert

September 9 (Saturday) 2:00 PM

Free concert presented by the Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society (RCMS) featuring soprano Celine Mogielnicki.  Program includes early English and Italian Baroque period music.  Bring seating, and enjoy the confluence of this outstanding concert and Wilderstein’s remarkable outdoor setting!

Lecture – “Doing Our Share: American Women and the Great War”

September 30 (Saturday) 2:00 PM

In connection with our 2017 World War I special exhibition, Trish Maloney will discuss the roles that women played at home and abroad during World War I as they sought to contribute to the war effort while simultaneously using the war as an opportunity to claim full citizenship. Holiday House Tours

November 24, 25 & 26 (Fri, Sat & Sun) AND

Florists and designers transform the Wilderstein mansion into a magical holiday wonderland. Tour the mansion at your own pace, with guides in each room to share information and answer questions. $11 adults, $10 students/seniors, children under 12 free. For those who like to shop local, the site’s museum store has an assortment of unique gifts for just about everyone. There’s no place like WILDERSTEIN for the holidays!
