September 25, 1909 - THE HUDSON-FULTON CELEBRATION IS PRESENTED ON THE HUDSON

The celebration, which includes multiple events up and down the river between New York and Albany, commemorates the 300^th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s discovery of the Hudson River and the 100^th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s successful application of the paddle steamer on the river. The Suckleys view some of the festivities from the deck of the Astor yacht, Nourmahal. At Wilderstein, Robert installs a 26-foot high flagpole on the roof of the house as a salute to the celebration.
