1988 - THE MANSION’S ORIGINAL PAINT SCHEME IS REVEALED

Paint analysis was begun to determine the original colors for the mansion. Although there was little paint left on the building, the analysis revealed that the house was originally painted in a complex scheme of pumpkin, green, plum, and cream but had been repainted a solid brown soon after construction was finished. (Bessie Suckley purportedly did not like the multi-hued color scheme and had it replaced.)

Wilderstein’s board decided to repaint the house in the original color scheme specified by the mansion’s architect, Arnout Canon.
