1999 - THE GATE LODGE IS RENOVATED AND REPURPOSED
Extensive improvements made to the structure designed by Downing Vaux in 1890 included converting the first floor to office and meeting space for Wilderstein staff and creating an apartment on the floor above.
The new meeting and office space freed up space in the basement of the mansion for exhibitions, a gift shop, and restrooms while the new apartment provided an additional—and stable—source of revenue.
